Pastor Jules and Turmoil in Haiti

Updated: Apr 22

There are some people in the world destined to do great things even when it hurts. Pastor Jules is one of them. He has led the charge to: build a church, establish a school, feed hundreds of people thousands of meals, plant community gardens, establish electricity and dig wells for 2 communities, and mentor several men to preach the Gospel in their communities. Did we mention that he also preaches? All the while, working side by side with his lovely wife to raise a family of three biological children. He also cares for and houses three orphaned children, as his own. The list goes on and on.

Pastor Jules is a relentless visionary who works against incredibly trying circumstances. The odds are against him. But, miraculously, he gets things done in a country that is crumbling beneath his feet. The first thing you will notice when you meet him is his gentle nature and ever present smile. He exudes peace and positivity. There is nothing fake about him. He's the real deal - a man driven by love for Haiti; but more importantly - love for God. His conversation is always peppered with praise and credit to his Lord and Savior. Pastor Jules doesn't doubt God's provision. When he sees a need he brings it to the throne of God and then acts upon it as though it will indeed, be provided.

But even great leaders get tired. Today, Pastor Jules needs encouragement and prayer and hope to carry on. He writes to us:

"... I greet you all this morning by the power of our great living God, I am happy for God in my life, it is the greatest wealth that I could possess. Thank you for all your prayers and support. It is the power of God that keeps me in Haiti, he protects me a lot.

Haiti is in the worst situation right now, the bandits are angry with the current prime minister. Yesterday afternoon they entered the biggest prison in Haiti, all the prisoners were thrown out of the Haitian National Penitentiary. They destroyed the international airport of Haiti in the city of Port au Prince, the angry police divided the entrances because many police died, the prime minister did not say anything, now it is the bandits who are in charge. People in the big city don't know who to call, where to go, many go in the provinces, they don't have a house or money to eat, life is difficult, things are more expensive every day, many people are dying of hunger. Thank you very much for helping me save many hungry people in our ministry, may God bless you more every day. I continue to wake up in prayer in our church this morning. My blood pressure rose a lot last night after I finished hearing the news. I have some friends who died in these bad conditions, it gives me pain in my head. ... but despite all the torments ... we are rich because we have God in our lives, all these problems are there for a time, the bible has prophesied about these things already."

I know from experience that Pastor Jules will persevere. His hope is ever renewed in the Lord, and he finds strength day-by-day to do the work that God has set before him. I ask you to join me in prayer for this incredible man, who without him, Rural Haiti Mission Support would not exist.
